Ohh So Good...

It's feels oh so good to know that when your boss acts all put out and annoyed that you quit to think to yourself, "be annoyed at me, I don't care sucka!"

Are you sure these rocks won't pop my tires???

This weekend Louie and I had our first desert adventure! We drove about an hour and half to a place called Trona and visited their landmark, the Trona Pinnacles. We hiked a little, climbed a few rocks, I yelled at the top of my lungs, and drank half a gallon of water. I might also add that to get to the Pinnacles you have to drive on a rock/dirt/sand road for 5 miles, and the whole time I just kept asking Louie if the rocks were sharp enough to pop my tires. Luckily they were not, however, now I wonder how sharp rocks have to be to pop tires, it just seems like it would happen eventually.

Callin' all Jimmie Johnson fans...there's a random group of campers off Highway 395 dedicated to you. That's Nascar talk for those of you unfamiliar.

Can't Stop Thinking...

Yesterday I read an excerpt from the conversation Obama and Leno had on the Tonight Show regarding all the AIG bonus ish. Obama said something and I just can't stop thinking about it...

"...the larger problem is we've got to get back to an attitude where people know enough is enough, and people have a sense of responsibility and they understand that their actions are going to have an impact on everybody. And if we can get back to those values that built America, then I think we're going to be okay."

That right there is why I voted for Obama. Say it's socialism, say it's anti- capitalism, say it deters self- determination, say it's whatever you want. I on the other hand say it's awesome.

Cuba

I showed this cat to my roommate and she responded, "that cat looks like it could punch me in the face!" I'll let you make up your own mind. How does a cat have such a chiseled jaw?

Apparently the cats name is Cuba. Just fyi, you know in case you meet in a dark alley and try to talk it out of attacking you.

My Other Car is a Porsche

This morning on my way to work I was behind this very slow Mercedes Benz, with a personalized license plate (of course). The BENZ4LU is what caught my attention until I realized the "gem" surrounding it. The frame read as follows: "My other car is a Porsche." All I could think of was a quote from Friends when Chandler and Joey's apt gets robbed and they're left with nothing because Joey got into the entertainment center to prove a point to the robber. Anyway, Ross says that he has an extra futon, you know so the guys can use it until they get new furniture and Joey says something like "dude, you don't have to brag, we've got nothing here!" To make a long story short, I thought the same thing about this mid 60s guy owning at least 2 cars totaling more in worth than a house is going for these days. Oh and I was driving my Grandma's old lady Cadillac, so I was already feeling real good about myself. ha

Baker

I have seen the World's Largest Thermometer, oh and Louie was there too, and I made him take like 5 identical pictures in the rain at 11:00 at night and it was 40 degrees.

I'm 24...

So even though I'm a week and a half late I thought I would share some fun birthday moments. Louie and I ate Judy's Donuts and went to 4 Clovis/Fresno museums, I went out with friends, ate some slow but pretty good sushi, but most of all laughed a lot and ate some really good french toast (thanks Jess)!! I hope I am never too old, or have too many responsibilities to turn my birthday into a 3 day extravaganza!!!

Desert Fun

My iGoogle Places to See never disappoints. It makes me interested in all these places that are just amazingly beautiful. Louie and I have been talking about making the most out of his desert location for the next ten months and I have just added a few fun weekend trips for us to take. He doesn't know yet, but hopefully he won't get tired of this red rock theme I seem to be into right now.
Grand Canyon, we're hiking down, camping, and climbing back out.

Bryce Canyon National Park, UT, any of my favorite Utahans are welcome to come along.

Horseshoe Bend, AZ just a 3/4 mile walk up to this amazing lookout, no effort at all. Will have to be combined with Grand Canyon adventure...I'm not going all the way to AZ for only 3/4 mile hike.

Zion National Park, UT, like I said, Utah friends meet us there!! :)

We are taking applications at this time for cool travel partners who are interested in participating in any of these adventures. Don't hesitate to sign up below!!!

Caution!

On my way to work this morning I was behind an Alert-O-Lite truck. This is interesting to me because I toured their whole store and facility in college. For those unfamiliar, they are a construction supply store, also specializing in orange cones and traffic blockade signs. Anyway, the point is that I started thinking about all the random field trips I had to take during college for my degree. I have seen glass made (really hot and really smelly), cinder blocks at a concrete making factory, gravel and rocks made and sorted for landscaping, windows and doors at Anlin being fabricated, toured a construction supply store, toured our University's Rec Center when it was still under construction, toured a Madera Winery and I'm sure more that I just can't remember. I also need to add that at most of these places I had to wear a hard hat and steel toed boots (which I later loaned to someone for a Halloween costume! How random was my major?

Ta Da!

A few months ago I became the proud owner of a queen size bed frame. For months I schemed on how I wanted to "fix it" because let's be honest that's what I do. I decided that since the frame was free I should do something funky and wild with the paint...so I decided on this chartruesy, pea soupy, sagey, limey green...and I love it!!
The original...

Step 1: Prime

Step 2: GREEN!!!

Step 3: Final Product

I should do this full time.

It's Finally Friday

Every Friday throughout the day, my favorite country station KISS Country has this song they play. For some reason ever since I was in high school I have been obsessed with hearing it at some point during my favorite day of the week. My Friday just doesn't feel complete unless I hear it. The good news is I heard it on my way to work this morning so I feel pretty good. SO needless to say,

"it's finally Friday, free again, got my motor running for a wild weekend, it's finally friday out of control, forget the working blues and let the good times rollll."

Only 7 hours, 30 minutes until I get to leave my very messy desk. Wish me luck. And yes, I know those lyrics by heart.

A Duck You Say?

I think I want to be a duck... an Oregon Duck that is. There are still plans to be worked out but I think it's meant to be. Do you know how much they recycle in Oregon?! These are my people!

Oh yeah and they seem to have a pretty awesome Museum Studies program, which I think is really cool. I know, nerdy, but we got to be real, I'm kind of a nerd.

Cheezy Goodness

So the fat kid in me is actually going to write an entire blog regarding my love for Cheez-Its. Basically, I love them day or night, breakfast or dinner, snack or meal they're my favorite. I have to actually ration how often I eat them otherwise I would eat like a box every 3 days. Last night at Target I put a box in my cart and I can't stop thinking about snacking on them all the way to Fort Irwin tonight. It's only 9:45am, I don't know if I can make it till 5 without sneaking a few. Thanks for still being my friend, even though clearly I have a problem.
